Stories that help families feel they belong

Hi, I’m Jan — a children’s author, consultant and proud Orkney resident. I write warm, heart-centred stories about kindness, belonging and rescued animals. I am inspired by my Māori roots, Orcadian storytelling , our grandchildren, and a little cat named Sukie who chose us just before lockdown in Dumfries. The stories I create are to encourage families read together and help children feel safe, confident and connected.

Meet Sukie

Sukie is a brave shelter cat with a gentle heart. She watches over the other cats, especially her friends Jim and Min, and dreams of choosing the perfect family of her own.

Her story helps children feel brave, kind and confident as they navigate change, friendship and belonging.
