Books

Welcome to the Sukie Queen of Cats series — stories shaped by my love of animals, my Maori and Scottish storytelling traditions, and the belief that every child deserves to feel they belong.

These books are written for families who treasure reading together, for teachers nurturing confidence in their classrooms, and for anyone who knows how deeply animals touch our lives.

Meet the real Sukie

Meet Sukie, the real Queen of Cats. She arrived at our home just before lockdown and, in her own quiet way, chose us. Sukie is brave in a gentle way — watchful, caring and always checking on her adopted siblings, Abbie and Webber.

During lockdown she brought joy, mischief and comfort into our home, connecting our family across oceans and generations. Her kindness and quiet confidence inspired the stories in this series. Sukie reminds us that family isn’t only found… sometimes, it’s chosen.

About the series

A series about courage, kindness and belonging (with some fun along the way.)

The Sukie Queen of Cats series follows Sukie, a gentle, watchful cat who cares for others while finding her own place in the world. Each book explores themes children experience every day — friendship, confidence, change, courage, family and emotional resilience.
