Not-Netflix Natters Series 2 Episode 5: Beyond Complaints and Clicks

How do we know when children’s media is really working?

But they are not how children measure stories.

Children show success in much simpler ways.

They ask to watch again. They repeat lines from the programme. They act out the characters. They ask for the book, the toy or the costume.

In other words, they form a relationship.

I see this with my grandchildren all the time. When they love a story, they return to it repeatedly and bring it into their play and conversations.

That is the real signal.

Stories succeed when they become part of family life.

Not because they avoid complaints. Not because they generate clicks.

But because they create loyalty.

And perhaps the strongest evidence of all is a child asking:

“Can we watch that again?”
